We Walk Hand in Hand Towards Beautiful Smiles With Our Expert Family Dentists

Welcome to DePalma Family Dentistry, where we are devoted to each of our patients, working to ensure comfort throughout their treatments at our office. At DePalma Family Dentistry, we offer various restorative procedures, including that of dentures in Denton, Texas. Dentures have long been a traditional choice for those who wish to replace missing teeth. They are an excellent way to restore the original shape and function of your mouth, providing a snug and comfortable fit while giving the appearance of genuine teeth. Whether you have lost teeth due to tooth decay, injury, or aging, dentures are an affordable and efficient option for you.

What are Dentures?

A denture is a set of prosthetic teeth custom-made to the size, shape, and color of your mouth. It is held in place using suction, clips, or adhesive to your gums, ensuring it stays securely in place. There are two types of dentures: partial and full.

Partial Dentures: We will use partial dentures when some of your natural teeth are still in place.

Full Dentures: We will use complete dentures when all of your natural teeth are missing.

The Procedure for Getting Dentures

The procedure for getting dentures will always begin with a consultation to see if dentures fit you and, if so, what type. It typically takes four to six weeks to receive custom dentures.
During your initial appointment, your dentist, Dr. Tim DePalma or Dr. Marissa Garcia, will take an impression of your mouth. The images, along with measurements of your mouth and jaw, are used to create dentures tailored to fit you perfectly.
The next appointment involves testing the dentures to ensure they fit you comfortably and correctly.
Afterward, your dentist will make any final adjustments or perform any necessary polishing to the dentures, and you can go home with your new smile.

Dentures’ Aftercare

Dentures are durable yet still require proper care to last for years. Steps to take care of your dentures include:

Cleaning:

To ensure your dentures stay clean, brush your dentures at least twice daily with a soft-bristled brush and a mild soap solution or denture cleaner.

Take care of them:

Handle your dentures carefully to prevent them from breaking, and store them in a denture-cleaning solution or water when not in use.

Dental Visits:

Schedule visits with your dentist for any adjustments or repairs. You may experience changes in your mouth or gums and require not-so-frequent changes or corrections in your dentures over time. Dr. Tim DePalma and Dr. Marissa Garcia will help you every step of the way to ensure you receive an entirely successful treatment.

Are Dentures Right for Everyone?

Any person who has lost teeth or is losing teeth can benefit from dentures, especially for individuals who are over sixty years old. However, some may be better candidates than others. Those with healthy gum tissue or jawbone can benefit from traditional dentures, while those with insufficient jawbone might require implant-supported dentures. Moreover, people who have had tongue or joint movement issues in their mouths, those who have had radiotherapy treatments for cancer in the head or neck, or those who are chronic teeth grinders are not complete candidates for dentures.

It is crucial to consult with one of our dentists to see if dentures will work for you.
